Gymshark Favorites

November 14, 2016hcms

Today’s blog is a special one – if you’ve been following me for a while, you have seen my love for Gymshark grow. The quality of clothing is comparable to big-name brands like Nike, Lululemon, and Under Armour, but they’re also much more affordable. Not only that, but the brand itself is about so much more than fitness or fitness apparel – it’s about connecting with the whole Gymshark family, from the people who own the company to the customers who buy the brand.

This past September, I joined Gymshark out in Vegas for the Olympia, and I am very excited to announce that I am part of the Gymshark family. I wanted to celebrate by posting a blog featuring some of my favorite Gymshark items! If you would like to purchase any of these, please feel free to do so by using my affiliate link: http://bit.ly/Gymshark-EmDunc . This link is not a discount code, it is an affiliate link. But it does help support me directly, meaning that use of this link helps me to continue to create more content for you all on pages like this blog, my Instagram @em_dunc, and my YouTube channel Youtube.com/EmDunc . This code also will direct you to any of the awesome sales that Gymshark is holding, which I will definitely keep you informed about as there are some great holiday promos coming up!

Let’s get started!

My Favorite Outerwear Piece: Seamless Airflow Zip Pullover

My personal preferred style is sleek, clean, minimal, and tailored. If I can get some cool details in there, even better, but often times I find that brands can’t get my all of that in one piece *sigh.* In comes Gymshark to save the day. This piece is a fitted pullover with beautiful streamlines detail that is extremely flattering to my shape.

The subtle venting details are my life. As is the minimal logo, aka not blasting a giant logo in my face.

Another of my favorite features of this item is the open shoulder back. I don’t have a photo of me personally from a back view, so I’ll post a photo from the Gymshark site.

These are the kinds of details I live for. Kthxbai.

I absolutely love everything about this piece. I wear it as a warmup for my lifts, for to-and-from the gym, even the early morning classes or running errands around town. Like I said, I like to look tailored… But I also like to be comfy and I also often need to be able to transition from class-to-training on a regular basis. This is why I favor companies like Gymshark (and Lululemon) because their pieces are fashionable for lifestyle wear but also functional for fitnesswear. Ten points to Gryffindor (Gymsharkdor?).

Sizing: S

My Favorite Fitted Top: Seamless Vest

This is a piece that I would consider a “Gymshark classic,” much like I consider the Swiftly Racerback and Yogi Racerback as “Lululemon classics.” This top is a gym staple when it comes to more snug/fitted apparel. I tend to favor more snug items due to having a small waist – things that are too flowy or loose tend to make me look blocky, so I shy away from those a bit more. And again, the whole streamlined/tailored thing. The seamless vest is just that, featuring a stretch knit and close fit.

Another thing I personally love about this item is the fact that while it is indeed fitted, I don’t feel like I’m suffocated. You know how you sometimes wear compression gear and feel like you’re dying a slow and painful death? Yeah, me too. Throwback to dance team when we were forced to wear compression turtlenecks under our half time outfits at football games when the weather got cold… *shudders*. With this piece, you get all of the support you want from a compression-like piece, without the whole contemplating-my-seemingly-imminent-and-near-death thing. Also, the fitted nature makes this piece great for layering, especially under other fitted pieces like the vest above!

Sizing: XS when stage lean, S during improvement season

My Favorite Loose-Fitting Top: The Workout Vest

Remember how I mentioned earlier that I like sleek and minimal, but with the occasional cool detail? The thing that never happens? Well, leave it to Gymshark to do it again. Why do you think I like them so much?! They feed my needs. When I’m not feeling like I want to wear a tighter top to train in, I choose tops like this workout vest. It’s not just a basic old tank top – the décolletage features an adorable cutout design (without too much cleavage for my personal taste), and the overall fit is still flattering to my waist while allowing for a bit more breathability. The back also features a really cute twisted design!

I will note that they are currently sold out of XS and S sizes, but M and L are still available. Hopefully these come back in stock soon! Maybe write a letter to Santa?

Sizing: S

My Favorite Bottoms: Flex Leggings

And now… For the “pièce de résistance,” the Flex Leggings. These. Freaking. Leggings. Y’all. I wish I was lying to you when I said these have become like a family member to me – at least as close to a family member as a clothing item can get. I hold these to the same esteem as I hold my beloved Lululemon Align Pant… And they’re less than half the cost, so double win there.

You may be asking, “Emily, why are you freaking out so much about a pair of leggings?” I promise you, as always, there is good reason aside from the fact that it’s early in the morning and there is coffee coursing through my veins. Please just take a second to look at the paneling on these leggings. Just look at it. LOOK AT IT. Especially for a tall girl (5’9″ whaddupppp), it’s so hard to find leggings that 1. Are long enough, 2. Have cool details, and 3. Are long enough and have cool details that don’t distort on my giraffe-like limbs. Whoops they did it again. What do they have in the water over there in England? I don’t know, but i need to go. From Harry Potter to Gymshark leggings, I’m clearly living in the wrong country in terms of my favorite things.

Even if you aren’t on the tall end of the spectrum like me, these leggings are still super flattering. I’ve seen people who are much shorter than I am (like my dear friend @robingallantt) rock these and still benefit from the flattering nature of the paneling. There are also a myriad of colorways available in these leggings. I love my all-black style. I’m awaiting the arrival of my blackberry/plum pair, but given that it’s fall fashion season, I have a feeling these are going to be accepted into my little fitness apparel family with open arms.

*Sizing note: when I am stage lean, I wear an XS. Once the booty gains kicked in, a S was more comfortable, especially given the length of my legs.*

There ya have it! Those are my Gymshark favorites/basics. I can’t wait to keep you all updated as more apparel rolls in… Hint: the upcoming releases are fire and I can’t wait to show you. Get your holiday wish lists armed and ready. Gymshark is truly a one-of-a-kind brand. They feature a myriad of styles in terms of apparel, but also a feature a diverse group of individuals involved in their brand. I feel very fortunate to be a part of it.

While I am a part of Gymshark, this blog is not sponsored nor was I asked by the company to write this. These opinions are completely organic and my own.
