Today, I’m extremely excited to announce a collaboration that I’m taking part in.
A good friend of mine, and bright, shiny, light in the fitness industry, Kendall, started a foundation last year called “She Matters.” It started out as a simple hashtag (#SheMatters) to let a fellow woman know, “Hey, you matter. You are valuable. You are worthy of love.” The hashtag took off, and that coupled with Kendall’s massive heart, led to the She Matters Mvmt becoming far more than just a hashtag (although I think we’ve already seen by now how powerful one simple hashtag can be… go check out another friend of mine, Arianna Dantone’s hashtag #GainingWeightIsCool if you need more proof on the power of hashtags).
Also this past year, She Matters teamed up with La Clé, a bracelet company whose accessories also contain a message to help you stay positive. For every band purchased with the SHEMATTERS code, one was donated to a young girl in need.
Upon conversation with Kendall recently, she told me about how she was teaming up with La Clé once again, but this time, to help raise money for scholarships for young women who are aiming to change the world. Now that’s a social media movement I can get behind. I myself am a kinesiology student, and I know firsthand how expensive college/higher education is (I pay for school on my own, no grants, no scholarships, no student loans, etc). I immediately supported this movement and wanted to help.
Today, the “Relevant” bands are available for purchase – $1 from every band will go towards our scholarship fund over the next year. In 2018, two scholarships will be offered. One chosen by Kendall, the “She Cares” scholarship, and one chosen by me, the “She Empowers” (see what I did there? Em? Empowers? Bueller? Anyone?) scholarship. I personally will be focusing on women intending to major in any of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields, as I acknowledge that not only is higher education expensive, but the amount of females who are discouraged from entering STEM fields due to gender barriers and stereotypes is all too real – and I want to work to change that.
Women have a place in higher education. Women have a place in all fields, including STEM fields. Women matter. YOU matter.
For more information regarding this collaboration and to purchase your own band, here are some links below to the She Matters site as well as to La Clé’s site as well.
If you purchase a band, first and foremost, THANK YOU. You are taking part in a cause so much bigger than just yourself. Secondly, if you purchase a band and wish to post it on social media, be sure to tag myself (@em_dunc), Kendall (@kendy_wendy), and La Clé (@shoplacle), and use the hashtags #SheCares #SheEmpowers and #SheMattersMvmt so that we can show you a little love for taking part in the movement.
As always, I love you all so so much, and I am thankful to have an audience who wishes to care for and empower other women. God bless <3.

(Also, for clarification, I DO NOT make any sort of profit off of sales of these bands. It’s simply a movement I believe in and want to be a part of).
